Dan has been the Chairman of our Board since ZimZam’s founding. He helped develop some of our CPR training materials, and frequently participates as a presenter at CPR trainings.
Dan is a lawyer who, as part of an international law firm, has been practicing law for 38 years. In the past 11 years, Dan has developed an expertise in pro bono human trafficking cases. This fits well within ZimZam’s “the church is a refuge” focus. In addition to his legal work, Dan has been a church elder and deacon, chairman of the board of a seminary, and has regularly taught Sunday School classes for more than 40 years. He loves to teach, and occasionally preach, the Word of God.
Tracey, Dan’s wife of 40 years, is a Bible Study Fellowship Teaching Leader. They met at UCLA in 1975. Dan grew up in Michigan and went to law school there, so he’s a fan of the Michigan Wolverines and Detroit sports teams. He’s a masters swimmer and holds three world records in his age group. Tracey and Dan live outside of Los Angeles. They have two grown children and four grandchildren.
Dave is known for his love for people, all Chicago sports teams, anything barbecue, and hanging out with his family!
Traveling to 60 countries over the past 33 years has given Dave a unique perspective on cultures, communities and global mission causes. He has a passion for people groups without access to the Bible and for children worldwide to have a healthy, dynamic community in which to worship God.
After leading various ministries and teams over the years, Dave is focused on the vision of multiplying healthy churches among all peoples through children, youth, and families. As a founding partner with ZimZam Global, Dave is impassioned with casting vision; creating opportunities for leaders; and helping children, especially those with disabilities, come to know, love and serve Jesus.
Dave and his wife Carolyn met in college in TN and have been married since 1984. They have three adult children, one daughter-in-love and three precious granddaughters, one of which is in heaven, and one grandson. They make their home in the Valley of the Sun in Phoenix, AZ.
James Fillingame received God’s call to vocational ministry while at the University of North Texas. He and his wife René married during the summer of 1983 and graduated from college the following year. In 1986 after René received her master’s degree in Speech Pathology and they were expecting their first child, they joined the staff of Family Life ministry, a division of Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ). They enjoyed their 4 years with Family Life helping to strengthen marriages through conferences and small group studies. In order to receive additional education and training, James and René moved to Arizona where James received a Master of Divinity degree from Phoenix Seminary. Upon graduation God directed James to become the senior pastor of Stone Creek Church. He served there for 13 years. Since leaving in 2008, James has consulted/coached faith-based nonprofits, served with Standing Stone Ministry as a retreat shepherd with his wife, and together, he and René began “tent-making” as flight attendants with Southwest Airlines.
James and René are passionate about coming alongside ministry couples. They know the highs and lows of ministry life since they have spent over 30 years in church and parachurch organizations. They understand the expectations that are put on the ministry couple and their family and they know firsthand the pressures on a couple raising a family while serving the body of Christ. They serve at Standing Stone Ministry as National Retreat Directors.
James has been married to René for 36 years. God has blessed them with two sons and two daughters, all of which are married. They have six grandchildren.
